Keys To Care
Available as an app or as a series of laminated cards that can fit onto a key ring, it provides basic tips and guidance for issues such as dementia care, care plans, privacy and choice. All the information is totally up to date and relevant as it was designed to meet a specific need identified by feedback the Relatives & Residents Association (R&RA) had received from people living and working in care homes.
Discovering that care workers needed accessible training resources that could be used both in residential and domiciliary care, the R&RA set out to create something which could be used by everyone.
The Keys to Care cover 12 topics in a practical, jargon-free manner. The topics are:
- The Care Plan
- Care at Night
- Continence Care
- Daily Life
- Dementia
- Eating & Drinking
- Emergencies
- End of Life Care
- Family & Friends
- Listening & Talking
- Mouth & Teeth Care
- Privacy & Choice
Each topic is designed to offer support for induction and training programs, as well as simply encouraging carers to discuss these issues. Care Homes should to make these keys available to people living in the homes as well as using them as a training aid, because the Keys to Care identify the standards for which carers and care homes should be aiming.
By having the keys available as laminated cards and as an app, it ensures that the information is readily accessible by all means whether you are tech savvy or not!
As an extra aid, Keynotes for each topic can be obtained which are designed to provide further information, relevant regulations and examples of good practice.
With time constraints always an issue, the Keys to Care and accompanying Keynotes offer an innovative, simple aid to induction and further training needs. Go to the website below to find out more or make an order
